You must understand that there is Bible prophecy and then their is Watchtower interpretation of Bible prophecy. There is so much about the Bible and the people who wrote it that the Society would never tell it's members because they know it would destroy the foundation for their beliefs. Instead they get a watered down version of the Bible with interpreted scripture given to them in books. I'm a true believer of prophecy in the Bible (many are) but not in prophecy that is "Watchtower Prophecy". Some of the most amazing prophecies I feel are contained not only in the Messiah, but also in how everything in the temple forshadowed the messiah. Textual critism at this point argue back and forth if these are "real" or not. Your faith will decide if you believe them or not.

So were any bible prophecies true?
by cheeseman ini'm just wondering to what extent the bible accurately predicted future events?.
when i was a good little jw, i was constantly reassured that we could have confidence in the paradise because the bible always got it's predictions correct since it was inspired by jah, blah, blah.. does anyone know of a good website which critically examines each bible prophecy one by one?
what do real bible scholars with no bias make off all these prophecies?.

We must remember that all religious groups feel they are on Gods side and thus will remain forever. How untrue this will be with the return of Christ when he Judges based on what INDIVIDUALS have done and not groups.

I wish I studied their history
by Woodsman inif i had i would have noticed what i do now.
for over 40 years, 1874-1914 and beyond the wts claimed that there was a time of trouble like the world had never seen before going on.
this was to be a terrible time leading up to armageddon in 1914. bible students used to write to russell and ask if his calculations were correct because they couldn't imagine the world going on much longer.

I remember that right after I got baptised I first encountered much of the information about the Socitys past. It was so confusing to me. It's been a long struggle since then but I feel I have still benefited from the expierance. Taken from the New World Translation James 1:2-3 reads:
2 Consider it all joy, my brothers, when YOU meet with various trials, 3 knowing as YOU do that this tested quality of YOUR faith works out endurance. 4 But let endurance have its work complete, that YOU may be complete and sound in all respects, not lacking in anything.
My expierance has not left me bitter. It has taught me to rely upon God more than men. It has been a real stepping stone in my life. Some may feel differantly about their own personal expierance, but I wouldn't change mine for the world. -

Let us not forget to "teach" everyone in Chrisendom that infant baptism is wrong because the Child dosn't fully understand the knowledge of God. Lord help me for what I believed when I was 11!

The Bible is the moral guide for our lives. Within its pages are many things that teach us WHAT WE OURSELVES must do. Personal choice and conscience are main factors in a Christians life. There are no hard fast rules (remember all things are lawful, but not all things are adventageous?). Those who tried to make hard fast rules becames the ones to kill Gods son. Every circumstance is differant and we are in no position to judge anybody. Instead we must encourage all to come to Christ, and assist them to personally make it their resolve to serve God. I suggest you read "In search of Christian Freedom" by Ramond Franz. It will be able to answer many of your questions.

BeepBeep Needs to Know About 1975!!!
by SWALKER ini know that many of you have the information discussing the watchtower's view on this and why so many thought it was going to be the beginning of armageddon and the mass exodus from the org when nothing happened.
i remember it very well and my mom telling me not to get my hopes up because she had been looking for the ancient worthies to appear for years at the assemblies and that never happened.
then they changed their prophesy on that too!!!
